Basic Combat Training
Early Procedures
Upon selection by the Commanding Officer an enlistee would be accepted into the 3rd Infantry Division, awarded the rank of Private, and get thrown into the heat of battle. The 3rd Infantry Division in its early stages had an On The Fly attitude toward training its members, and had no regulated training procedures. A soldier would attend normal drill dates, learn Drill and Ceremony by example, and participate in normal strategic training sessions.
The soldier was required to read, understand, and agree to the Rules and Regulations section of the unit's website, and adhere to three more additional requirements.
- High level of maturity
- English language skills (see also, Basic English)
- Ability to role-play
Once a soldier had proven himself to his chain of command that he was responsible, trustworthy, and capable of fulfilling his job requirements, he was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, and promoted to Private First Class. Once this small ceremony took place, the soldier was considered to be a full member of the 3rd Infantry Division.
Easy Company
Due to a massive increase in popularity, and a major influx of enlistees, the CO and XO agreed that training needed to become a separate entity from the main fighting force. MSgt. Briggs was appointed Training NCO of the 3rd Infantry Division, and was overseen by 1Lt. Hunkeler. Easy Company was came into existence June, 2001, and remained active until it was renamed in late 2003 to BT (Basic Training).
The Company saw great success in the beginning, producing soldiers that eventually became important leaders in the unit.
