Biography
In November of 2001, S/Sgt. Blanchette (then known as toga) began his video game career by playing the first-person shooter Return to Castle Wolfenstein. After many solid months of gameplay, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault was released in January 2002, and his interest in realistic WWII warfare was realized in full. He changed his in-game name to Vance, and soon fell upon the arms of a unit known as the N.E-Rangers, a realism-based unit which, interestingly enough, housed 2 members (Tim Burton, Verzijl) of a Day of Defeat unit called the 3rd Infantry Division. One year later he saw the Rangers fluctuate from popular to dismal, his rank expand from Private to Captain, and the unit itself in a state of oblivion. In early 2003 the N.E-Rangers formally abandoned, and not wanting his passion for WWII-era realism to fade, sprung at his friend Burton's invitation to check out the 3rd Infantry Division of DoD. Vance soon became enthralled and before long, was a recruit waiting in line to join the hallowed ranks of this sought-after division. After many months of patience and some bad decisions (which cost him an enlistment) he finally made the cut in December of 2003. Being that the 3rd ID was in a transition phase, from Day of Defeat to Call of Duty, Pvt. Blanchette gruaduated basic training on February 2, 2003, in the 3rd ID's inaugural class of CoD, along with T.J. Ambrose, Christopher Jimenez, Damian Sosa, and Aaron Giles.
He soon established himself as an excellent shot, especially with the Browning Automatic Rifle, and became the BAR man for the unit. His many contributions to the 3rd Infantry Division along the way have been greatly appreciated and his return to action is officially scheduled for September 1, 2007.
