Proposal

We could eliminate the usage of Private as being a training-only rank. This could be accomplished by one of two ways:

  • RCT [name] [3rd ID]
  • [name] [3rd ID]
  1. They not an official part of the unit, and it will most definitely show them where they stand on the chain of the command - no where.
  2. They don't exist until they pass BCT, and only then will they be awarded the rank of Private. From there on out, Private will be a true rank that holds no chevron, and they will have to work for their Private First Class stripe.

Pros

  • Easy to distinguish who is a recruit (from the outside)
  • No mouthing off, because they're not deluded by the rank of Private.
  • Harder working soldiers (seeing as they have to earn their ranks).
  • Something new in the division.
  • Would make it easier to enforce rules concerning "Recruit LOA" issues we've had in the past. Among other things.

Cons

  • Something new in the division (for the conservatives)
  • Could look retarded from the outside.
  • Requires some minimal site redesign, and probably some database work.
  • Some possible getting used to.
