[edit] Guidelines

[edit] Jeeps

  1. When checking a Jeep out of the motor pool, please ensure it is in proper working order. My staff keeps all vehicles maintained, but sometimes mistakes are made. Ensure the vehicle runs and drives without incident. If it does not, return it to the motor pool, inform my staff of the problem and check out another. (Do not drive Jeeps with anything less than a full bar of armor unless circumstances are dire. Jeeps that are damaged are less effective in combat.)
  2. Do not check a Jeep out of the motor pool for personal use. They are utility trucks, not staff cars. (Always take one or two soldiers with you when driving a Jeep. Never go alone, as it wastes the vehicle and leaves you without protection.)
  3. Drive in a manner that will not compromise the vehicle or your fellow soldiers. (Do not screw around with Jeeps, especially when in combat. Do not cut donuts or drive around in reverse in the spawn. Do not play or toy with enemy soldiers or armor.)
  4. Maintain proper situational awareness at all times. (Be aware of where your fellow soldiers are in relation to you at all times. Do not run over your teammates.)
  5. If approaching an area where personnel or other soldiers are present, sound the horn to indicate your presence. (Sound the horn to let people know you're coming. Do not mow them down. If they do not move, maneuver around them or stop. If they turn and shoot you, removed them from combat.)
  6. Do not sound the horn unless you need to. (Do NOT spam the horn. I will personally remove you from combat.)
  7. In combat, do not drive the Jeep in a manner that will put yourself or your passengers in danger. (Do not drive directly at enemy tanks or anti-tank troops if they are shooting at you. Doing so makes you an easier target. Put the tank or anti-tank troop on your beam and try to drive for cover.)
  8. If possible, return the Jeep to base to pick up more soldiers. (If you drop two soldiers off, return to base and pick up two more. Act as a ferry.)
  9. If at any time you spot an enemy soldier driving one of our Jeeps, you may destroy the Jeep to remove him from it. (Destroy all vehicles containing enemy soldiers, period. If you manage to remove an enemy from the Jeep without damaging the truck, you can use it again.)
  10. When riding as a passenger in a Jeep, do not distract the driver and always keep your eyes open. (Do not shoot your own Jeep for fun and keep your eyes open for threats. The driver cannot look for threats and drive at the same time)
  11. Do not fire off unnecessary rounds from the mounted machine gun. (Fire only at enemy targets. Do not spam the gun. Screwing around with it or shooting at the driver, the Jeep or other friendly soldiers will get you removed from combat.)
  12. If another soldier checks out a Jeep, do not ask to drive and do not attempt to remove said soldier by force. (If someone else is driving, do not force your way into the driver's seat for any reason. Go as a passenger or gunner. Do not shoot a Jeep to get its attention. You will be removed from combat if you do.)
  13. When an officer checks out a Jeep, you must ask permission to join him or to drive. (When the Captain or Lieutenants commandeer a Jeep, it is theirs alone. Do not order an officer to move or to get out. If they ask you to drive, you may do so. You may join as a gunner or passenger when in combat.)
  14. If for any reason a soldier should commandeer a German Horch, they must inform their fellow soldiers that they have the truck in order to reduce friendly fire. (If you steal a Horch...tell someone. It is harder to identify targets at range than it is to identify the vehicle.)

Please refer to this document when you check out a vehicle from the motor pool. These rules will be enforced by the MPs.

[edit] Tanks

  1. When checking a tank out of the motor pool, please show proper identification and proof of completion of Basic Armor Training. (Do not drive a tank unless you are trained to do so. This ensures proper use of the machine at all times.)
  2. Before starting the tank, ensure it is in proper working order. Ensure the tracks are clear and the turret is unobstructed. (Ensure the tank has a full bar of armor. Damaged tanks are ineffective in the field.)
  3. When you start the tank, ensure the area around is clear before putting it into gear. (Since the tank is bulky, it's hard to see soldiers that are right against it. Make sure the area is clear before driving off, as you may run over unseen soldiers.)
  4. Do not drive the tank in a manner that will create a hindrance to advancing infantry or will put yourself in danger. (Never drive abeam to an attacking enemy. Doing so makes you more vulnerable and destruction could hinder advancing infantry, who will have to go around you.)
  5. If ordered, use the tank as a moving shield. (Soldiers can use a tank as a mobile shield. If you're asked to, provide cover for advancing infantry.)
  6. Do not turn your rear toward enemy tanks or anti-tank troops. (The back of a tank is the weakest point. Do not let the enemy get behind you.)
  7. Use the main gun for armored targets only. (The co-axial machine gun is faster and more effective for troops or trucks. Use the main gun to taken them out only if they're hiding or are behind cover.)
  8. Ensure your loader and gunner are well trained and are able to work quickly. (Know to the last millisecond how long it takes the main gun to load after each shot.)
  9. If your tank takes too much damage in combat, attempt to abandon the vehicle and find cover. (If you take too much damage, abandon the tank and find cover immediately. Sacrificing the tank to keep the advance moving is the lesser of two evils.)
  10. When facing the German's main tank, the Panzer IV, use your maneuverability as an advantage. (Try not to take the Panzer head on. Try to maneuver around it or surprise it. Hit it from behind or the side.)
  11. If you see a soldier toss a satchel charge at you, attempt to maneuver away from the explosive as quickly as possible. (The underside of a tank is the weakest part by far. If a soldier tosses a satchel at you, move away from it if possible. If not, abandon the vehicle.)
  12. If you successfully manage to steal a Panzer IV, inform your superiors and use the tank to your advantage. (If you take a Panzer, tell someone. It's hard to identify a friendly Panzer at range.)

Please refer to this document when you check out a tank from the motor pool. Improper use of a tank will result in revocation of your privilege to operate them.
